I created castle and drawbridge invitations for the Princess Party. I wanted to keep things simple so I drew up a shape of a castle and cut it out of a grey-ish paper.
Next I cut the the tops of the castle out of a purple paper in three triangles. Two small and one large.
After assembling them all together I used a purple/pink glitter to outline the tops of the castle points.
If you want the castle drawbridge to open then you need to cut out a half oval shape without going all the way through the bottom of the paper. It is best to do this with an exact-o knife. I also glittered the edge of the cut out drawbridge and used glue to write a cursive E on the front and glittered it as well.
Then I created the wording and printed it on pink paper with purple ink. I glued it to the back of the castle so when you open the drawbridge it showed the wording. It took some adjusting in my word processing program but it finally worked out perfect.
The wording went like this:
Hear Ye, Hear Ye,
Princess Ella is turning 3!
Come join us as we celebrate
this princess who is really great!
The royal celebration will be held
at the Grandparent's Castle.
1234 N Street Lane on February 25th from 10 a.m. till 12.
We will have perfectly princess-y treats
and fabulous games - sure to pick up your feet.
Only your finest royal attire will do.
We only require a can of food from you.
We ask no gifts to be given; please
Ella will donate the cans of peas.
We decided to request that no gifts be brought because Ella has plenty of toys and I know what it is like to try and figure out a cheap gift for your kids friends - not always the most fun thing in the world.
The food donations will still allow the kids to learn the importance of giving and it will also teach Ella how to give, even on her birthday.
